As part of the Student Journey Team, we are seeking an Assistant Director, Student Diversity and Inclusion to join our team and contribute to our mission. In close collaboration with the Director of Student Journey and other Assistant Directors, you will lead a newly established team responsible for diversifying the university’s student intake and ensuring success for students from all backgrounds. You will play a vital role in implementing the Access and Participation Plan, as well as serving as an institutional expert on widening participation and student inclusion. This role primarily requires on-campus work, with the option for up to two days of remote work per week. Responsibilities: As the Assistant Director, Student Diversity and Inclusion, your responsibilities will include: – Establishing a Student Diversity and Inclusion team to implement the activities outlined in the Access and Participation Plan (APP) – Developing strategies and practices to meet the Access and Participation Plan targets and University key performance indicators (KPIs) related to student diversity – Leading initiatives to foster a sense of belonging for students from underrepresented backgrounds, including the submission of the APP and the creation of a widening participation strategy – Improving student transition by implementing strategic initiatives to bridge gaps in continuation rates and enhance personal tutoring, peer support, and support for target groups – Enhancing student outcomes by implementing strategic initiatives to address attainment gaps and promote inclusive education – Collaborating with the Assistant Director: Student Recruitment and Lifecycle Events to establish a Data, Market Insight, and Evaluation function that provides expert analysis for recruitment and widening participation activities across the University – Employing a data-informed and evaluative approach to all widening participation interventions, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable return on investment – Coordinating with the Office for Students to fulfill regulatory responsibilities and contribute to the national agenda on access and participation – Managing an annual budget of approximately £3.5 million, ensuring that all activities deliver exceptional value for money and align with institutional priorities – Analyzing data on widening participation and student inclusion, reporting findings to senior committees, and making recommendations for future policies – Collaborating with colleagues university-wide, serving as an expert on student diversity and inclusion activities and strategies To view the complete requirements, please refer to the attached job description.
