OVERVIEW The Assistant Director, Start Abroad Programs at the University of Miami supports the administration and daily operations of study abroad opportunities designed for first-year spring-admitted students. This role focuses on student advising, program coordination, recruitment support, and communication with families and institutional partners. The position also contributes to strategic enrollment initiatives and helps create a positive student experience abroad through collaboration with campus and international stakeholders. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Oversee administration and operations for Start Abroad programs – Support recruitment efforts for first-year spring-admitted students – Provide student advising and support for participants and families – Coordinate study abroad program logistics and communications – Review student applications for program participation – Support orientations and student programming activities – Maintain relationships with overseas institutions and partners abroad – Assist with risk management processes related to study abroad activities – Collaborate with campus and international partners – Support strategic planning and assessment initiatives – Contribute to strategic enrollment efforts for the program REQUIREMENTS – Experience supporting study abroad or international student program operations – Ability to advise students and communicate with families – Ability to coordinate program logistics and communications – Ability to collaborate with campus and international partners – Ability to support strategic initiatives and assessment activities – Ability to manage multiple administrative responsibilities in a student-focused environment WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This position helps students successfully begin their university experience through structured study abroad opportunities that combine academic transition and international engagement.
