OVERVIEW The Go Global Associate Advisor at The University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan Campus supports international learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students through the university-wide Go Global program. This role focuses on coordinating and advising on inbound and outbound student mobility programs, including study, research, and practicum experiences with partner universities. The position is a one-year contract at 0.8 FTE and sits within the Global Engagement Office. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Manage established international learning opportunities with UBC academic programs and partner universities – Advise UBC students and visiting international students before, during, and after international learning experiences – Facilitate individual and group advising sessions, workshops, and information sessions related to international study and research – Assess student learning goals and guide students toward appropriate international opportunities aligned with academic and career objectives – Advise on application and admission processes for partner universities, including use of UBC and partner information systems – Support students with course selection research, transfer credit information, housing, admissions, and transcripts – Coordinate orientation, transition, and pre-departure programming for inbound and outbound students – Develop and deliver educational programming to support student learning pre-departure, during experience, and post-experience – Support special programs such as summer programs and structured research initiatives, including marketing, communications, and advising – Coach students on articulating international experiences to employers – Interpret and apply university and Go Global policies, proposing exceptions when required – Identify issues in policies or program guidelines and implement changes as needed – Connect students with campus resources, including academic advising, health, counselling, housing, and safety abroad support – Develop, implement, and evaluate programs addressing student concerns, including workshops and online resources – Participate in university project teams and committees representing Go Global – Collaborate with UBC faculty, staff, and partner university colleagues to support program delivery – Review and redesign processes to improve program effectiveness using stakeholder input REQUIREMENTS – WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International learning programs are a key component of global engagement and student development in higher education.
