OVERVIEW Western University is seeking an Executive Director, Global Engagement to support and advance the institution’s international strategy and worldwide engagement priorities. Based in London, Ontario, this leadership role will contribute to the execution of the Western in the World Global Engagement Plan (2023–2030), with a focus on student mobility, global partnerships, research collaboration, and intercultural learning. The position supports coordinated international initiatives across the university and strengthens Western’s global presence and influence. As a research-intensive institution with a large international community, Western University continues to expand its international reach through collaboration, engagement, and partnerships. The Executive Director will work closely with university leadership, faculties, and external stakeholders to support strategic international priorities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead the execution and advancement of the university’s global engagement strategy – Support international partnerships and coordinated global initiatives – Strengthen institutional global reach and influence – Coordinate international engagement across faculties and units – Support senior leadership delegations abroad – Build relationships with governments, diplomatic representatives, and international organizations – Advance priorities connected to student mobility, research collaboration, and intercultural learning – Contribute to the implementation of the Western in the World Global Engagement Plan (2023–2030) REQUIREMENTS – Experience supporting global engagement initiatives – Ability to strengthen international partnerships and coordinated initiatives – Ability to collaborate across faculties and institutional units – Experience building relationships with governments, diplomatic representatives, and international organizations – Ability to support international delegations and engagement activities – Understanding of international strategy, student mobility, and global partnerships WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role contributes to the continued growth of Western University’s international presence and supports meaningful engagement across the global higher education landscape.
