DeSmet Ave., Suite 102, Spokane, WA 99202 **Salary** $43,040 Annually **Closing Date** November 14, 2024 — **Job Details** **Company Description** The Study Abroad Advisor at Gonzaga University collaborates with the Study Abroad (SA) team to offer exceptional service to students interested in studying abroad, ensuring a seamless experience for all involved. This role is pivotal in managing enrollment for the Gonzaga in Florence (GIF) Study Abroad Programs and acts as the primary connection between Florence’s student-facing staff and the SA Office, focusing on program success and safety alongside general advising duties. **Gonzaga in Florence Program Management (40%)** Responsibilities include: – Collaborating with on-campus offices and GIF student-facing teams to prepare students for their Florence experience. – Monitoring course enrollment for GIF programs. – Coordinating student services with GIF colleagues. – Providing pre-departure information and resources to participants and their families. – Allocating housing and accommodations based on student needs. – Regularly communicating with students and families via email to prepare them for the GIF program. – Assisting in personal or medical emergencies abroad with the Director of Study Abroad. – Managing short-term study abroad programs using GIF facilities. – Ensuring all GIF students are registered with the U.S. embassy abroad. – Guiding faculty teaching at GIF on arrangements, health and safety, and emergency procedures. – Collaborating with the Italian Program on the Florence Scholars Program, including admissions and program activities. – Supporting student communication on visa processes. – Attending recruiting fairs at partner schools, either in-person or virtually, 3-5 times annually. **Study Abroad Advising and Education (30%)** Responsibilities include: – Conducting group and individual advising sessions on study abroad opportunities. – Tailoring information to fit students’ interests, goals, and needs. – Communicating via in-person meetings, phone calls, and emails. – Advising students on national study abroad scholarships and convening an advisory board for feedback on essays. – Educating students on health, safety, and logistics. – Tracking and approving Pell Grant recipients and Gilman applicants. **Outreach (20%)** Responsibilities include: – Promoting study abroad programs through campus activities. – Representing GIF at partner institution fairs. – Attending professional development meetings and conferences to stay updated on international education. – Collaborating to promote inclusion and support diverse student populations. **Data Analytics and Reporting (10%)** Responsibilities include: – Providing data analytics and student information to university offices such as the registrar and financial aid. – Compiling monthly and annual reports on student participation. **Additional Responsibilities** – Updating the website as required. – Participating in SA on-call rotation and completing relevant training. – Upholding professional conduct, efficiency, and courtesy as essential job requirements. – Other duties as assigned by the department.
