Back to search results University of Stirling – Academic Registry Location: Stirling Salary: £23,715 to £26,396 Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Permanent Placed On: 17th February 2023 Closes: 9th March 2023 Job Ref: SERV01640 The Post The post of Student Immigration Officer is part of Academic Registry and sits within the Student Immigration area of the team, which is responsible for delivery of the University’s arrangements, policies, and procedures in respect to its licence with the Home Office; managing and monitoring the institution’s compliance with UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) requirements; and enabling an effective immigration service across the institution that enhances the student experience and supports the conversion of applications to enrolments. The team reports directly to the Academic Registrar and supports and provides expertise to the Academic Registrar as required to support the successful achievement of Academic Registry objectives. The team also works collaboratively with the University’s Faculties, Divisions, and Professional Services Directorates to achieve institutional objectives. The purpose of the post is to contribute to the delivery of the University’s arrangements, policies, and procedures in respect to student immigration support and compliance; provide focused, expert advice and support to staff and international students across all relevant categories of sponsorship, including post study work, whilst mitigating the risk of non-compliance; and liaise and collaborate effectively with partners and external stakeholders with a focus on providing an excellent experience throughout the student journey, demonstrating high levels of customer care. Description of Duties Maintain a thorough and detailed knowledge of UKVI policy guidance to continually improve service delivery, enhance the student experience and to ensure the University remains compliant with its obligations as a student sponsor Provide a supportive, robust, and compliant immigration advice service to students and their families by providing expert guidance on the requirements for making a successful student visa application, clarifying the options for post study work, and responding knowledgably to student immigration queries Contribute to the range of compliance approaches operated by the team and as required, engage with colleagues across the University, handle and record documentation and data, undertake communication with UKVI etc Support the Student Hub in providing accurate first line responses to immigration queries, regularly reviewing their development needs, and providing training as required when policies or processes change Essential Criteria A degree level qualification and work experience in relevant administrative roles based within the context of a relevant regulatory framework / significant work experience in relevant administrative roles based within the context of a relevant regulatory framework in roles of increasing level and responsibility At least a working knowledge of working with Home Office/UKVI student rules and regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to convey complex information to a diverse audience, both orally and in writing Ability to respond sensitively to students facing difficult situations For further information, including a full description of duties, essential criteria and details on how to apply, please see Vacancy details | About | University of Stirling We value your feedback on the quality of our adverts.
