Job Title: Student Engagement Coordinator Location: Birmingham, Alabama (on site) Employment Type: Full time, permanent Salary: Up to $42,000 per annum Application Deadline: Monday 30th October Are you passionate about creating an unforgettable student experience? We are seeking a dedicated Student Engagement Coordinator to play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of our international students at INTO UAB. As the Student Engagement Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Student Experience to ensure a seamless transition for our students into their life in the U.S. and provide them with a fulfilling university experience. Key Responsibilities: Intercultural Programming and Events: – Develop and implement engaging social, cultural, and educational programs for INTO UAB students. – Work with internal and external partners to design events that align with our mission and vision. – Manage communication strategies to keep our international students informed and engaged. – Oversee INTO UAB Orientation for new students. – Maintain student welfare and risk management during INTO UAB sponsored activities. – Collaborate with academic departments to integrate programming and provide a holistic student experience. Career Readiness and Alumni Engagement: – Support students in pursuing employment and career development opportunities. – Cultivate relationships with employers seeking international talent. – Lead workshops on career exploration and preparation. – Promote career-assistive technologies and update the INTO UAB Career Readiness Map. – Facilitate connections between alumni, UAB, and INTO. – Maintain a database of alumni achievements and employment placements. Student Involvement and Leadership: – Guide students in finding leadership opportunities on campus. – Foster involvement and leadership among international students. – Supervise INTO UAB Orientation Leaders, volunteers, and Student Assistants. Operations and Communication: – Develop strong relationships with internal and external departments. – Stay informed about policies and processes and effectively communicate them. – Advocate for improvements to enhance the student experience. – Assess program effectiveness through data and feedback. Requirements: – Undergraduate degree in a related field. – 3 years of relevant experience in student services. – Strong communication skills. – Knowledge of international student career readiness and higher education issues. – Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds. – Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. – Ability to work independently and under pressure. – Excellent customer service and presentation skills. – Ability to build relationships across diverse backgrounds. Additional Desired Qualifications: – Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field. – Previous experience with international students or living/working abroad. – Proficiency in a second language. – Extensive experience in student programming. – Familiarity with learning management and CRM systems. – Experience in a start-up business environment. Position Details: – Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly during peak orientation periods. – Eligibility to work in and travel to/from the U.S. is required.
