Senior Director, International Initiatives Provost & VP of Academic Affairs International Programs The Office of International Initiatives is currently seeking a Senior Director, International Initiatives at the Atlanta campus location. This role entails leading strategic outreach and campus coordination to advance global engagement throughout the Georgia State community. The Senior Director will collaborate frequently with Colleges to identify global priorities in academics, programs, and research, and support their efforts to achieve their goals. Additionally, this position will contribute to the development and monitoring of the Office of International Initiatives’ strategic plan. This department is currently recruiting for one position: Senior Director, International Initiatives This position is responsible for supervising the Director of Study Abroad Programs, the Manager of Marketing and Public Relations, the Business Manager III, and the Administrative Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Associate Provost, International Initiatives, the Senior Director serves as their deputy in their absence. The Office of International Initiatives is a university-level unit dedicated to promoting global awareness and driving engagement to make Georgia State University a globally recognized institution. Major units within the Office include Study Abroad Programs, International Partnerships and Agreements, Chinese Language, Culture and Business Initiatives, Virtual Exchange, and Special Programs for Global Engagement. What makes the Office of International Programs a great place? · A flexible work environment · Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. · A collaborative and inclusive organization that values knowledge-sharing and works with diverse partners · Professional development opportunities and mentorship · A fast-growing center within an academic setting · A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Here are the responsibilities of the Senior Director, International Initiatives: • Assist the Associate Provost in various roles and responsibilities within the Office of International Initiatives and throughout the campus. • Establish and maintain a network of alumni to support international career development and networking opportunities. • Lead campus-wide efforts to promote internationalization. Serve as a liaison between the Office of International Initiatives and colleges, schools, and institutes to advance their global strategic objectives. Foster international collaborations that align with these objectives. • Oversee the University International Council, including agenda setting, meeting planning, and communication with Council members. • Coordinate cross-campus committees representing the Atlanta and PC campuses to support global strategic initiatives. Assist these committees in setting goals and monitoring progress towards achieving them. • Contribute to the development of the Office of International Initiatives’ next strategic plan. Provide guidance and mentorship to the teams responsible for implementing the plan. • Assist in coordinating a campus-wide approach to mitigating global risks, including faculty, staff, and student international travel. Advise on best practices to minimize risks. • Supervise the Director of Study Abroad Programs, Business Manager III, Manager of Marketing and Public Relations, Administrative Coordinator, and indirectly supervise six additional full-time study abroad staff. • Represent the Associate Provost and the Office of International Initiatives on university-wide committees and task forces. • Provide assistance and coordination to other units within the Office of International Initiatives as necessary. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree and six years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of relevant experience, experience in international education within a higher education setting, and experience as a director in a global education office.
