OVERVIEW The Careers and Employability Advisor role at UNSW College is a full-time ongoing position within the Student Success Team, based at the Kensington campus in Sydney with hybrid work options. The role focuses on supporting culturally diverse student cohorts, particularly international students, to build career confidence, employability skills, and readiness for the Australian workforce. Reporting to the Head of Student Success, the advisor contributes to a growing strategic focus on employability and student outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Deliver career coaching and employability support through individual consultations, workshops, and group sessions – Design and facilitate employability and professional skills programs aligned to contemporary workforce needs – Support students with resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and workplace readiness – Develop employability resources, guides, and online content – Collaborate with Academic, Student Success, and Applied Program teams to embed employability initiatives into the student experience – Collect and analyse student engagement and employment outcome data to support continuous improvement – Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external industry partners – Contribute to initiatives supporting Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and employment pathway opportunities REQUIREMENTS – Experience in careers, employability, recruitment, student success, coaching, or related advisory services – Experience designing or delivering workshops, training sessions, or employability initiatives – Strong communication and relationship-building skills – A strengths-based and consultative approach to student engagement – Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment – Cultural awareness and experience supporting international or diverse student cohorts – Confidence engaging with students in one-on-one and group settings – Experience within higher education, student services, recruitment, or employability programs (highly regarded) – Full working rights in Australia – Working With Children Check WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role plays a direct part in improving student transitions from study into employment or further education by embedding career development into the overall student experience. By supporting international and diverse cohorts, the advisor helps students navigate unfamiliar labour markets and workplace expectations. The position also contributes to institutional goals around employability outcomes and student success.
