OVERVIEW The SJC Career Counsellor role at William Angliss Institute is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Melbourne, supporting the Skills and Jobs Centre until 30 June 2027. The role focuses on delivering coordinated career counselling and employability support to a diverse client base, while also contributing to workshops, programs, and partnerships that strengthen career development outcomes. It sits within a specialist tertiary education provider known for foods, tourism, hospitality, and events training. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide coordinated, individual career counselling and support services to clients – Deliver face-to-face presentations, workshops, and webinars as required – Contribute to the delivery of projects, resources, and programs in collaboration with internal and external communities – Provide training and development to the team – Actively promote and advocate careers advisory services and events – Maintain and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders REQUIREMENTS – Graduate Certificate (or higher) in Career Education and Development with significant relevant experience; OR Certificate IV in Career Education and Development with significant relevant experience and willingness to obtain additional qualifications – Client and case management expertise, particularly with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and the ability to address varied career aspirations and needs – Proven ability to demonstrate initiative and to develop, promote, and deliver engaging careers advisory activities and services – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strategic relationships for beneficial outcomes – Experience and demonstrated proficiency in data capture and report preparation – Ability to demonstrate behaviours aligned with the William Angliss Institute Values – Capacity to meet compliance requirements, including Working with Children Check and National Police Check WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Career counsellors in Skills and Jobs Centres play a critical role in helping individuals navigate education, training, and employment pathways, particularly in sectors facing skills shortages.
