OVERVIEW The Deputy Director – Student Advising at CQUniversity is a senior leadership role focused on shaping and delivering high-quality student advising services across a multi-campus and online environment. Positioned within the Students Directorate, the role plays a critical part in supporting students from enrolment through to completion. This position combines strategic leadership, service innovation, and data-informed decision-making to enhance student success, satisfaction, and retention. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead the strategic direction and optimisation of student advising services. – Drive performance, quality, and continuous improvement across student advising functions. – Strengthen and evolve the Student Service SPOT model using data-informed insights. – Lead and support a geographically dispersed, multi-campus advising team. – Deliver a consistent, high-quality advising experience across service channels. – Use data and analytics to improve student outcomes and experience. – Collaborate with academic and professional areas to enhance the student journey. – Oversee service design, programs, and initiatives aligned to student needs. – Manage resources and workforce planning to support sustainable service delivery. – Build team capability, engagement, and performance. – Contribute to institutional strategy, policy development, and service design. – Foster a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement within the Directorate. REQUIREMENTS – Postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience, or equivalent senior management expertise. – Proven success in leading customer-focused service functions, including strategy development, operational delivery, and resource management. – Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing, geographically dispersed teams. – Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence at senior levels. – Strong analytical capability with experience using data to inform strategy and continuous improvement. – Deep understanding of the Australian tertiary education sector and student advising practices. – Knowledge of contemporary student success, retention, and engagement strategies.
