OVERVIEW The Senior Student Counsellor role at Asia Pacific Group focuses on supporting international students to make informed study decisions in Australia. Based in Blacktown, Sydney, this position combines student counselling, application processing, and relationship management within a growing education and migration consultancy. It offers opportunities for career progression in a multi-country organization with a strong presence in the international education sector. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Proactively seek potential clients via social media – Build and manage a pipeline of qualified clients – Counsel students by asking key questions, actively listening to their needs, and guiding them toward suitable study options – Process applications for international students across ELICOS, VET, college, and university sectors, including extensions, deferrals, and cancellations – Maintain accurate and comprehensive student application records and documents within the CRM system – Communicate with partner institutions to inquire about or follow up on student applications – Attend professional training sessions and industry events organized by institutions or the company – Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly application progress reports to management – Liaise with colleagues to promote the company brand to international students – Assist in brand localization initiatives for Philippines audiences REQUIREMENTS – A personality suited to fostering, building, and managing relationships – Excellent presentation and communication skills – Adequate knowledge of the local or domestic area – Ability to work under pressure and meet or exceed monthly targets – Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team – Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Willingness to take on varied opportunities and ad-hoc duties as required – Understanding of the Australian student visa system – Understanding of admission processes for English schools, VET colleges, and universities in Australia – Minimum one year of experience in student counselling or education consultancy – At least one year of experience in a migration and education agency – Prior education consultant experience of one to two years in Australia – Strong knowledge of Australian education policies and visa requirements – Proficiency in multilingual languages such as Filipino, Bengali, or South Indian dialects – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International student counsellors play a critical role in helping students navigate complex education systems and visa pathways.
