OVERVIEW The Safety Caseworker role at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) sits within the newly established Safe and Respectful Communities (SARC) Team and plays a critical role in supporting student and staff safety. The position focuses on responding to disclosures of concerning student behaviour, including gender-based violence, using trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches. Based at UTS’s central Sydney campus, the role contributes directly to the university’s commitment to social justice, inclusion, and wellbeing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Act as the first point of contact for disclosures and reports of concerning student behaviour, including gender-based violence. – Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred case management for staff and students, including intake, risk assessment, and safety planning. – Respond to crisis and critical incidents, coordinating support with internal and external services. – Advise staff and students on university support services, investigation pathways, and local resolution processes related to student behaviours of concern. – Coordinate, monitor, and report on instances of concerning student behaviour. – Maintain a responsive intake service and manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and high-quality support aligned with best practice. – Contribute to projects that improve reporting processes, policies, and service quality through stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement initiatives. – Undertake accurate case administration, reporting, and documentation. – Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. – Engage in supervision and ongoing professional development. REQUIREMENTS – Experience working in support services related to sexual assault, domestic and family violence, or similarly complex concerns. – Capacity to work with sensitive and complex subject matter related to safety and gender-based violence. – Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed services to people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. – Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team environment. – Demonstrated experience engaging with a range of stakeholders in a complex organisation. – Current and valid work rights in Australia. – Willingness to declare any past investigations relating to gender-based violence, in line with statutory obligations.
