OVERVIEW The Senior Project Officer (Academic Support) at the University of New South Wales is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term role based in Kensington, Sydney with hybrid working arrangements. Positioned within the Student Learning team in the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education portfolio, this role focuses on designing, delivering and evaluating targeted academic support initiatives for equity cohorts. The position supports student success through evidence-informed practice, project coordination and stakeholder engagement while contributing to the continuous improvement of academic support services across the university. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Design, implement and evaluate targeted academic tutoring programs and related academic support initiatives for equity cohorts. – Ensure academic support programs align with best practice models, institutional priorities and the needs of diverse student groups. – Coordinate operational administration of tutoring and support programs, including scheduling, tutor communication, attendance tracking and timesheet processes. – Respond to student enquiries and maintain accurate program records. – Develop frameworks and mixed-methods evaluation tools for academic support initiatives. – Deliver evaluation reports and contribute to continuous service improvement. – Support project planning, governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities. – Collaborate with university staff and stakeholders to improve integration of academic support services. – Produce accessible resources, project materials, templates, trackers and progress reports using relevant digital tools. REQUIREMENTS – Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. – Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality, student-centred academic support services. – Proven ability to plan and deliver projects across the project lifecycle. – Experience conducting mixed-methods evaluation of academic support services. – Commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-informed practice. – Understanding of challenges faced by tertiary students from diverse equity backgrounds. – Knowledge of issues impacting accessibility to education and academic learning support services. – Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail. – Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills. – Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. – Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing competing priorities and deadlines. – Experience using Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams and other digital systems. – Ability to develop accessible resources and project documentation. – Valid Australian working rights at the time of application.
