OVERVIEW The Senior Government Reporting Officer is a specialist academic administration role focused on ensuring accurate, compliant reporting of government-funded training activity. Based at Chisholm Institute in Melbourne’s southeast, this position supports reporting obligations to both State and Australian Governments. The role works closely with the Team Leader Government Reporting and contributes to institutional compliance, continuous improvement, and long-term sustainability of funding and loan administration. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide support to the Team Leader Government Reporting in the administration and reporting of Institute training activity to State and Australian Governments – Administer and report government-supported or subsidised activity, including Skills First-funded students under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 – Administer and report student activity supported under the HELP program, the Higher Education Support Act 2003, and the VET Student Loans Act 2016 (and any succeeding legislation) – Provide proactive recommendations to the Academic Registrar, Academic Administration, and the Student Success and Support portfolio to enhance and future-proof practices – Ensure compliance in administering and reporting government funding and loans activity – Develop appropriate processes and local work instructions to support the work of the Government Reporting team – Work collaboratively to support Chisholm’s strategic plan and vision through excellence in education administration REQUIREMENTS – Relevant degree-level qualification, or lesser formal qualifications combined with substantial experience and expertise in administrative fields – High level of computer competence with strong Microsoft Office skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Strong interpersonal skills for delivering quality customer service and obtaining information from multiple sources – Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Government reporting is critical to the financial integrity and regulatory compliance of vocational and higher education providers. This role helps ensure that students’ access to subsidised training and loan programs is accurately administered and protected. By strengthening reporting processes and compliance frameworks, the Senior Government Reporting Officer directly supports institutional sustainability and student success.
