OVERVIEW This role supports First Nations students throughout their university journey by providing consistent, culturally grounded guidance and advocacy. As an Adviser, you work closely with students, families, colleagues, and community organisations to help students feel welcomed, supported, and confident within the university environment. The position is full time and continuing, with roles based in Port Macquarie and Albury-Wodonga. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide one-on-one and group support to First Nations students across their university journey, both on campus and online. – Assist students to settle into university life and connect with appropriate academic and wellbeing support services. – Contribute to a welcoming and culturally safe university community for First Nations students. – Coordinate and support programs delivered through First Nations Student Connect. – Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community organisations to ensure consistent support for students. – Maintain strong organisation and communication to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality support. REQUIREMENTS – Experience using inclusive and culturally aware approaches to support First Nations people in ways that meet their needs. – Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and organisations. – Ability to work independently, stay organised, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work. – Confidence using technology and willingness to learn new systems to support client-focused service delivery. – Ability to satisfy and maintain a Working with Children Check in accordance with NSW legislation. – Eligibility to work in Australia, including citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work visa appropriate for the position. – Willingness to provide confirmation of Indigenous Australian identity, as this is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander position.
