OVERVIEW The Peer Mentoring, Training and Development Officer at Victoria University is a full-time, fixed-term professional role focused on strengthening the student experience through peer mentoring. Based at the Footscray Park Campus in Melbourne, this position works closely with Student Mentors and advisory staff to ensure mentoring programs are well-coordinated, inclusive, and effective. The role is hands-on and student-facing, with a strong emphasis on training, development, and operational delivery across multiple campuses. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Recruit, induct, train, and support Student Mentors. – Schedule and approve Student Mentor shifts across multiple campuses. – Maintain accurate records of recruitment documents, training attendance, and project materials. – Develop, refine, and deliver engaging training content, including online learning modules and multimedia resources. – Provide leadership, coaching, and general direction to the Student Mentor team. REQUIREMENTS – Experience in peer-to-peer mentoring, student support, training, or a similar coordination role. – Ability to work confidently with diverse student groups. – Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgement. – Organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently. – Commitment to supporting the growth and development of others. – Willingness to hold or obtain a current Employee Working with Children Check. – Full and permanent working rights in Australia, as visa sponsorship is not available.
