The Opportunity Reporting to the Head of Student Experience, the Student Liaison Officer provides timely and practical first-contact support to students. The role responds to routine enquiries, supports student engagement activities, records enquiry themes and assists students to navigate approved ISN processes and services. The role requires a supportive, respectful and confidential approach, with clear professional boundaries. This is not a counselling or academic advisory role, and it does not involve making decisions about student academic matters. What you will do: You will: respond to routine student enquiries through approved channels provide accurate general information about services, key dates, forms, events and available support assist students to navigate internal systems, appointments, forms and referral points maintain accurate records of student interactions, actions and outcomes support orientation, information sessions, on-campus days, graduations and student engagement initiatives assist with student communications that promote belonging, participation and awareness of support services collect, collate and summarise routine student feedback Support students to access appropriate information, services and referral pathways in relation to wellbeing, safety, complaints, academic progress, personal circumstances, placement matters or other concerns. liaise with academic teams, student services, placements, clinic teams, marketing and operations use approved AI tools only for routine communications, de-identified enquiry theme summaries and service improvement tasks, with human review. What we are looking for: You will bring: strong interpersonal, communication and administrative capability experience in customer service, student services, education, health, community services or a related environment the ability to communicate warmly and clearly with students from diverse backgrounds sound judgement, confidentiality and professional boundaries strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping practical AI literacy, including safe use, human review and escalation of AI-related risks the ability to refer complex or out-of-scope matters to the appropriate staff member or service. Experience with CRM systems, student management systems, Canvas, Microsoft 365, student engagement activities or study in psychology, counselling, social work, education, health or human services will be well regarded. AI as a professional competency AI is reshaping psychology practice, research and the academy. ISN Psychology expects academic staff to engage with AI thoughtfully, transparently and critically in teaching, research, assessment and administration. Staff are expected to understand AI limitations, academic integrity risks, research integrity considerations, privacy obligations and the importance of human academic and professional judgement. Location and employment The role is based in Kew, Victoria, with some travel as required to other ISN Melbourne locations Full-time 1.0 FTE HEW 5 under the Higher Education Industry – General Staff – Award 2020, subject to contract and classification confirmation.
