OVERVIEW The Inclusion Support Advisor role at Southern Cross University is a student-facing position within the Study Well team, focused on enabling equitable access to learning for students with disability, long-term illness, or mental health conditions. Based at one of SCU’s regional campuses, this role combines direct student support with collaboration across academic and professional teams. It is suited to professionals committed to inclusive education and practical, outcomes-focused support in a higher education environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Assess student learning needs and develop tailored learning access plans and reasonable adjustments – Support students with disability, long-term illness, or mental health conditions to access equitable learning opportunities – Provide expert advice on disability inclusion, assistive technology, and inclusive education practices – Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff across the University – Champion inclusive practices that support student access, participation, and success REQUIREMENTS – A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification – Background and experience in allied health, special education, social welfare, mental health, occupational therapy, or a related field – Proven experience in disability services – Familiarity with challenges and barriers faced by students with disability in accessing and succeeding in higher education – Strong understanding of legislation, policies, and guidelines related to disability services and inclusion in education – Strong problem-solving and judgement skills – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage students, staff, and stakeholders WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Inclusion Support Advisors play a critical role in translating disability legislation and institutional policy into meaningful, day-to-day support for students. By enabling access and participation, this role directly contributes to student retention, wellbeing, and academic success.
