King’s Own Institute (KOI) is a leading private institution of higher education located in central Sydney and Newcastle, Australia, offering high quality accredited diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Accounting, Business, Management, Information Technology (IT) and postgraduate courses in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). KOI is looking for the right candidate to join our Academic team as an Academic Officer. The Academic Officer’s main duty will be to undertake academic administrative duties, support the Academic Manager and Senior Academic Officer and assist academic teaching staff in order to maintain the effective running of KOI’s Academic department and ensure students receive the best quality education. As well as to work as part of a team providing high quality, student-focused, professional, and efficient services to support KOI. Roles and Responsibilities: Assist student enquiries Organise and support the running of examinations Assist with student enrolment Review misconduct cases Assist students with their learning experience Assist teaching staff as required Hire and train casual staff for academic processes Maintain student records on Moodle / TechOne and in their student files Assist other departments (Marketing, Admissions, and Student Services) in preparing and managing student enrolment and orientation Assist Student Services in reviewing student performance and engagement Assist Head of Programs in course management Report student issues to Director of Learning and Teaching Provide support to the Director of Learning and Teaching to ensure best practices and effective operation of the Academic department Be involved in the development of instructions, notices and guides for students and staff Participate in professional development and training as required Perform all tasks as required by KOI Management Assist other departments (Marketing, Admissions) in preparing and managing student enrolments and orientation Essential Criteria A minimum of one (1) year experience in academic administration roles is required Previous experience in academic administration is required Excellent communication (written, verbal, and reading) and customer service skills Accuracy with data entry and attention to detail Advanced computer skills demonstrating high computer skills with MS Suite, Google Suite, student Moodle & TechOne database management, and proficient typing abilities Working knowledge of Moodle and TechOne systems is required Full Australian work rights are required for this position Desirable Criteria Experience with administration at another higher education and/or tertiary education provider Experience working with international students Knowledge of DHA (Department of Home Affairs) regulations (in relation to visas) & ESOS regulations relating to higher education industry/providers Knowledge of TEQSA standards and AQF guidelines Experience and ability to work with individuals from multicultural backgrounds Experience in compiling and analysing data If this sounds like you and you are ready to take your career to the next level, please send through your CV and cover letter to our HR Department.
