OVERVIEW The Student Life Assistant role at Macquarie University is a full-time, continuing position within the Inclusion and Belonging team, based on campus at the Wallumattagal campus in North Ryde, Sydney. This is a student-facing role focused on supporting student groups, coordinating events, and contributing to an inclusive and vibrant campus environment. The position operates at HEW Level 4 and involves regular interaction with students, staff, and stakeholders across the university. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide administrative and event support across major student events and initiatives. – Respond to a high volume of enquiries from student groups regarding events, administration processes, and governance requirements. – Liaise regularly with student groups to support the effective operation of their activities and escalate issues where required. – Review event submissions to ensure compliance with university requirements, including risk assessment documentation. – Assist with the administration and review of student group funding requests. – Ensure student group documentation satisfies governance and compliance requirements. – Support event logistics and coordination, including catering, venue bookings, equipment arrangements, and attendance record keeping. – Monitor student notice boards and digital posting spaces to ensure compliance with University guidelines, including identifying and removing unauthorised materials and escalating issues where required. – Comply with relevant EEO and WHS legislation, policies, and procedures. – Undertake other duties as required and appropriate to the classification level. REQUIREMENTS – Degree qualification or equivalent experience in business, education, finance, law, or a related discipline. – Demonstrated experience in customer service and/or administration. – Familiarity with student groups and/or student-led initiatives. – Experience managing high-volume administrative processes and competing priorities. – Familiarity with event coordination and logistics. – Experience using databases, systems, and reporting tools. – Successful completion of a Criminal History Check.
