OVERVIEW Western Sydney University is seeking a Disability Advisor to join Student Wellbeing Services on a full-time, two-year fixed term contract based at the Parramatta South Campus. The role focuses on supporting students with disability, chronic health conditions and mental health conditions through tailored advice, advocacy and academic adjustments that strengthen access, participation, retention and success. The position includes collaboration with students, staff and external stakeholders to improve inclusive practice and accessibility across the University. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Deliver tailored, proactive and responsive support for students with disability. – Provide specialist advice, information, support and advocacy in relation to complex student matters. – Develop, monitor and refine academic reasonable adjustment plans and placement reasonable adjustment plans in collaboration with students and staff. – Advise staff and stakeholders on inclusive design and the accessibility of facilities, services and learning environments. – Use student feedback, service data and review systems to identify trends, gaps and opportunities for improvement. – Contribute to service performance metrics and maintain accurate records. – Ensure practices align with University policy, legislative requirements and relevant funding obligations. – Build strong working relationships across the University and with external partners to strengthen referral pathways and integrated support. – Contribute strategic insights that support systemic improvement and service innovation. – Co-develop and deliver educational programs that build understanding of accessibility and inclusion across the University community. – Use Microsoft 365 and CRM platforms to support efficient and high-quality service delivery. REQUIREMENTS – Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, Education, Social Work or a related field. – Extensive experience supporting a wide range of clients with disability in a support, training, advisory or similar role. – Strong working knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Disability Standards for Education 2005, Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and Privacy Act 1988. – Demonstrated advocacy, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. – Ability to navigate sensitive and complex matters. – Strong written and verbal communication skills. – Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and CRM platforms. – Evidence of full-time working rights in Australia.
