OVERVIEW Edith Cowan University is seeking casual Examination Invigilators to support examination periods across its City, Joondalup, and South West campuses in Perth, Western Australia. This role is suited to individuals looking for flexible casual work that can fit around other professional, family, or personal commitments. Examination sessions are scheduled well in advance, offering predictable work opportunities throughout the academic year. Successful applicants will join a casual pool and may be rostered during multiple examination periods each year. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Verify student identities before examinations – Distribute examination materials to students – Collect and check completed examination papers – Follow established procedures to monitor students during examinations – Help maintain academic integrity during examination sessions – Assist within the Examination Distribution Room when required – Support the reconciliation, collation, and delivery of examination materials – Work across examination sessions scheduled between 7:30am and 10:00pm – Be available to work across ECU metropolitan campuses during examination periods REQUIREMENTS – Relevant work rights to undertake employment in Australia – Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with individuals and groups – Good level of English proficiency – Sound judgement and problem-solving skills – High level of accuracy and attention to detail – Ability to sustain focus over extended periods – Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team – Strong organisational and time management skills – Ability to work in a structured and time-sensitive environment – Alignment with the University values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage, and Personal Excellence – Availability to work 4 to 5 days during examination periods – Flexibility to accept rostered shifts across daytime and evening sessions – Ability to work across all Perth metropolitan campuses – Capacity to stand for lengthy periods and walk through narrow aisles – Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting exam papers up to 10kg – Ability to walk distances up to 1000m within 15 minutes while carrying examination materials – Current ECU students, including research degree students, are not eligible to apply WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Examination invigilators play an important role in supporting fair and secure assessment processes within higher education.
