OVERVIEW The Pathways and Transitions Officer role at Federation University Australia supports young people enrolled in the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) program at Federation College. Based at the SMB Campus in Ballarat, this is a full-time, fixed-term appointment until June 2028. The position focuses on career development, transition support, and coordination of work experience to improve education, training, and employment outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide specialist transition support for VCE VM students adapting to diverse educational, life, and learning experiences – Deliver consistent, high-quality, student-centred career and pathways services – Provide expert advice to VCE VM teaching and support staff on career pathways, further study, and employment opportunities – Coordinate and manage Work Experience opportunities for VCE VM students REQUIREMENTS – Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with students from diverse educational backgrounds, including those who may experience barriers to learning, employment, or further training – Proven knowledge of education, training, and employment pathways relevant to young people – Demonstrated experience in providing career development, pathway planning, and transition support to young people – Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills – Demonstrated well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills – Ability to use inclusive, strengths-based, and student-centred approaches – Hold a valid Employer Working With Children Check (WWCC) WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role plays an important part in supporting young people at a critical stage of their education and career development.
