OVERVIEW The Admissions Lead – South Asia (In-Country Operations) is a senior international education leadership role focused on overseeing admissions activities across South Asia for a major Australian university. Based primarily in Brisbane with significant in-country engagement in India, the position combines strategic oversight, regulatory expertise, and operational leadership. It is designed for experienced professionals who can manage complex international admissions environments while maintaining institutional standards and student-focused outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Oversee South Asian admissions functions, ensuring high-quality, compliant services and a strong student-focused culture – Establish and maintain systems, processes, and staffing requirements for an in-country office based in India – Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal university stakeholders and external partners – Monitor and interpret legislation, government advice, and sector influences impacting international student admissions – Ensure admissions services align with institutional objectives and regulatory requirements – Provide strategic advice and implement continuous improvements to existing systems, processes, and operations – Be contactable and, when required, work outside standard business hours to accommodate international time zones – Travel frequently within South Asia to support in-country operations REQUIREMENTS – Education equivalent to a postgraduate qualification with extensive experience in international admissions – Demonstrated experience managing outsourced or contracted services – High-level expertise in interpreting policy and legislation relevant to international student admissions – Demonstrated cultural and language fluency relevant to the South Asian market – Fluency in Hindi (highly desirable) – Ability to provide medical clearance confirming the ability to travel and work in India for extended periods – Willingness and ability to travel frequently within South Asia – Ongoing full-time work rights in Australia WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role plays a critical part in ensuring that international admissions operations are compliant, ethical, and aligned with both institutional goals and government expectations.
