Who are we looking for? We are seeking a Indigenous Australian Student Success Educator to join Oodgeroo Unit, Indigenous Australians, Chancellery Division. The Indigenous Australian Student Success Educator partners with key stakeholders at QUT to support Indigenous Australian students to implement effective learning strategies to ensure they progress through their degree programs and complete successfully. The position works closely with the Indigenous Australian Senior Success Educator in conjunction with staff from Student Success and Teaching Advancement and speciality Faculty Student Success teams to identify at risk students and create innovative and targeted programs and communities of practice to support success for Indigenous Australian students. The Indigenous Australian Student Success Educator will demonstrate initiative while working with other team members, and independently, across the University, to improve student success outcomes and foster Indigenous Australian excellence. The position will be responsible for managing additional projects as required. This position reports to the Indigenous Australian Senior Success Educator for career planning, development, and performance expectations. This includes; • assisting Indigenous Australian people to enter University. • providing our students with academic, personal, and cultural support throughout their degree. • providing a visible cultural presence at QUT • promoting real world opportunities for our students. Our main administration office is located at Gardens Point campus, with facilities at our Kelvin Grove student centre. On both campuses we have computer labs, places to study and work with tutors, and places to meet with other students. All Oodgeroo Unit staff are required to work across both campuses. The Oodgeroo Unit is situated within the Education Portfolio in the Academic Division. What you need to succeed Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience in a field related to education, student engagement, or transition and success.
