OVERVIEW The Senior Student Recruitment and Success Officer leads Indigenous student recruitment and success for Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne, based at The Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development. This full-time, continuing role focuses on building trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and guiding students from initial engagement through to thriving at university. The position is located in Southbank, Melbourne, and is open only to Indigenous Australians under the relevant legislation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Design and implement Indigenous student recruitment and retention strategies aligned with Faculty of Fine Arts and Music and Wilin Centre priorities. – Plan and manage school, community, and arts sector outreach activities, including travel schedules, visits, and on-campus engagement. – Support prospective students through enquiries, applications, auditions, and interviews by providing clear guidance on university processes and requirements. – Coordinate transition and student success initiatives that foster belonging, wellbeing, and academic confidence for Indigenous students. – Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, schools, and arts sector partners. – Track, evaluate, and report on recruitment activities, targets, and budgets to support continuous improvement and strategic planning. REQUIREMENTS – Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander under the relevant legislation and special measure provisions. – Experience in Indigenous services delivery, recruitment, community programs, education, or the arts, or a relevant degree. – Demonstrated strong connections with diverse Indigenous communities and the motivation to develop new partnerships across regions. – Proven success in recruitment, outreach, or student engagement activities. – Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently across varied audiences and contexts. – Current valid work rights for Australia. – Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check.
