OVERVIEW The Student Safety Coordinator role at Australian Catholic University (ACU) is a full-time, permanent professional position focused on safeguarding student wellbeing across multiple Australian campuses. Embedded within the Student Experience Directorate, this role supports the university’s commitment to preventing and responding to gender-based violence. The position combines direct student support with strategic prevention and awareness initiatives, operating within a national safeguarding framework. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Drive student safety initiatives and case management within the Safeguarding & Student Safety portfolio. – Provide assistance, information, and trauma-informed case management to students who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, family and domestic violence, other forms of sexual harm, or inappropriate behaviour. – Support the continuous improvement and delivery of ACU’s safeguarding and student safety strategy and function. – Work closely with the National Manager and the Safeguarding & Student Safety team to coordinate responses and supports. – Contribute to the development and management of prevention strategies related to gender-based violence and inappropriate behaviour. – Deliver promotional and awareness initiatives designed to reduce instances of inappropriate or concerning behaviour among the student community. REQUIREMENTS – Eligibility to hold and maintain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) (ACT only). – Ability to complete mandatory pre-employment declarations and background checks, including those related to gender-based violence and foreign interference. – Australian work rights; for permanent roles, applicants must have permanent work rights. – Capacity to work within ACU’s mission, values, and safeguarding policies.
