Duty Officer (Campus Operations) Part-time | Melbourne Campus | Commencing August 2026 Overview Group Colleges Australia (GCA), trading as Universal Business School Sydney (UBSS), is a leading independent higher education provider offering MBA and Bachelor of Business programs to a diverse, global student community. GCA is seeking a proactive, reliable and service-oriented Duty Officer to support the day-to-day operations of the Melbourne CBD campus. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment while providing operational, facilities, IT and administrative support to students and staff. About the Role Reporting to the Campus Manager, the Duty Officer plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the campus through: Monitoring campus safety, security and facilities. Providing first-level IT and classroom technology support. Assisting with campus events, logistics and operational activities. Supporting reception and providing outstanding customer service to students, staff and visitors. Ensuring classrooms and common areas are well-presented, safe and operational. What We’re Looking For The successful applicant will ideally possess: Experience in campus operations, facilities management, security, customer service, or a similar operational role. Experience providing basic IT support, including troubleshooting classroom and audio-visual equipment. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Good computer literacy, including Microsoft 365 applications. The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment. A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. A commitment to maintaining a safe, professional and welcoming campus environment. The following are highly desirable: Experience working within an education or higher education environment. Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices. First Aid Certificate. Experience as a Fire Warden. Key Responsibilities Provide first-level IT support for classrooms, staff and students, escalating issues where required. Assist with classroom setup, campus events and equipment logistics. Conduct regular campus inspections to ensure facilities are safe, secure and well maintained. Respond appropriately to campus incidents, emergencies and operational issues. Coordinate maintenance requests and liaise with contractors and service providers. Support reception during breaks and peak periods by welcoming visitors and responding to enquiries. Assist with mail, courier services, inventory management and general administrative duties. Maintain campus presentation through routine inspections and light operational duties. Support compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and emergency procedures. Perform the duties of First Aider and Fire Warden. Working Hours This is a part-time position based at our Melbourne CBD campus. The role requires flexibility to work rostered shifts, including: Day shift: 8:00 am – 5:30 pm Evening shift: 5:30 pm – 9:15 pm Some additional hours may be required to support campus activities and events.
