At Macquarie University, our Student Wellbeing team is dedicated to helping every student access the care they need to thrive academically and personally. We are looking for an experienced clinician to deliver high-quality psychological services and provide expert guidance in assessment, intervention, and clinical care coordination. In this pivotal role, you will help enhance student wellbeing through evidence-based practice, including thorough risk assessment and management, while helping to ensure continuity of care across services and providers. You will help advocate for student needs within the University and help enable equitable access to appropriate care. Through service coordination and partnership with internal and external stakeholders, you will help enrich integrated mental health and wellbeing support across our campus community. About the Role Reporting within the Student Wellbeing team, you will coordinate and provide the delivery of counselling and evidence-based psychological services. Your responsibilities will include: Developing, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of appropriate, evidence-based clinical interventions for students, informed by assessments and care planning recommendations. Helping ensure adherence to clinical procedures and protocols related to counselling and psychological services. Partnering with different areas of the University and key stakeholders, such as student accommodation providers, to develop education and training, provide guidance on supporting students’ wellbeing needs through learning activities and curriculum, and help embed wellbeing support within systems and processes. Identifying, developing and coordinating improvements to protocols for clinical service delivery within a stepped-care framework. Providing high-level guidance to individuals and groups on mental health issues, diagnosis, clinical therapies and interventions, or gender-based violence. Identifying the need for, and referring clients to, other relevant internal or external allied health or community services, and at times coordinating referral of students to appropriate external providers (such as local mental health services and emergency services). Providing expert guidance to key stakeholders to implement case management plans and interventions, and managing complex cases involving perceived risk to self or others. Identifying, evaluating, escalating and reporting on potential clinical risks. Participating in peer supervision and contributing to clinical case discussions to help strengthen psychological practice across the team. Partnering with and advising other Student Wellbeing staff on escalated and/or complex cases.
