OVERVIEW The Study Skills Advisor role at The Gordon is a student-centred position focused on helping learners build confidence, independence, and effective study habits. Based across Geelong and Wyndham campuses, this role supports students through one-to-one appointments, drop-in sessions, and online resources. It is not a tutoring role, but one dedicated to empowering students with lifelong learning skills in a collaborative and inclusive education environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Support students to build strong, practical study skills, including time management, note taking, assessment preparation, and digital capability – Deliver one-to-one and small group study skills appointments, both face to face and online – Develop engaging online learning resources to support self-paced learning – Work closely with internal services to ensure students are connected to the right support when needed – Travel and work flexibly across Geelong and Wyndham campuses REQUIREMENTS – Experience supporting students in an education or learning support environment – A strong understanding of effective study habits and learning strategies – Confidence working with students from diverse backgrounds and with different learning needs – Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport – A collaborative mindset and the ability to work autonomously when needed – A commitment to inclusion, respect, and student wellbeing – A relevant education qualification (for example, language, literacy, TESOL, numeracy, or digital literacy) or equivalent experience – A current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check – Permanent residency status in Australia or a valid work visa WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Study Skills Advisors play a critical role in student retention, progression, and wellbeing by helping learners develop the tools they need to succeed independently.
