OVERVIEW The Boarding House Assistant position at Mount Erin Boarding House (MEBS) in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, supports the wellbeing, supervision, and care of boarding students within a Catholic education environment. MEBS serves students attending Kildare Catholic College and Mater Dei Catholic College and provides weekly or casual boarding for secondary students from the Riverina region and beyond. This is a permanent part-time opportunity with rostered duties across Thursday evenings and Friday mornings. The role is part of the Boarding team and focuses on ensuring appropriate duty of care for students at all times. The successful candidate will contribute to a supportive residential environment that promotes academic, social, spiritual, and personal development. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Work as part of the Boarding team to ensure appropriate duty of care for boarding students at all times – Support boarding students within a residential school environment – Contribute to a safe and supportive boarding experience for adolescents – Maintain effective written and verbal communication – Use ICT systems and organisational skills in day-to-day responsibilities – Support the Catholic ethos and values of the organisation – Participate in required compliance and screening processes REQUIREMENTS – Current First Aid Certificate or commitment to undertake before commencement – Prior experience in a boarding house, teaching environment, nursing, childcare, or healthcare support – Clear and compassionate understanding of adolescents – Good written and verbal communication skills – ICT competency and sound organisational skills – C Driver’s licence – Supportive of Catholic ethos and values – ABSA Duty of Care Certificate or commitment to commence upon appointment – Current NSW Working with Children Check – Successful completion of a National Criminal History Check – Successful completion of a Functional Assessment – Accreditation for Support Staff in a Catholic School (Category A) or working towards accreditation Desirable qualifications and experience include: – Senior First Aid Certificate – Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate – Small bus licence – Bronze Medallion WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Boarding House Assistants play an important role in supporting the safety, wellbeing, and daily experience of young people living away from home during their secondary education.
