OVERVIEW The Manager, Transition role at The University of Queensland (UQ) is a senior professional position within the Student Enrichment and Success Division, focused on shaping students’ earliest experiences of university life. Based at UQ’s St Lucia campus in Brisbane, this full-time, permanent role leads institution-wide transition and onboarding initiatives that support students from their first point of engagement through to successful progression. The position combines strategic leadership, program design, and cross-university collaboration to build a cohesive, inclusive transition framework. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead and develop a team to deliver consistent, evidence-informed transition and onboarding programs. – Review, evaluate, and report on the impact and effectiveness of transition initiatives to inform continuous improvement. – Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to operationalise UQ’s transition framework. – Ensure transition programs are accessible and inclusive in their design and delivery. – Drive the development of high-quality physical and digital transition resources that respond to the needs of a diverse student cohort. – Bring together stakeholders across UQ to create a cohesive and holistic approach to orientation across all campuses. – Support students to confidently navigate transitions toward, into, through, and beyond university life. REQUIREMENTS – Completion of a postgraduate qualification with five or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. – Demonstrated experience leading and motivating high-performing teams in dynamic environments. – Demonstrated success in designing and delivering student-centred programs that enhance the student experience. – Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and accessible program design, particularly for students from underrepresented backgrounds. – Highly developed interpersonal, consultation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. – Substantial experience managing projects, including planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting within agreed timeframes and budgets. – Strong analytical capability, with experience interpreting data from multiple sources to inform recommendations and service improvements. – Unrestricted right to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
