OVERVIEW The Indigenous Student Success Officer (Identified) role at Australian Catholic University (ACU) is a continuing, part-time position focused on enabling the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in higher education. Based at the Blacktown campus with engagement across multiple campuses and some hybrid flexibility, the role operates within Yalbalinga Indigenous Higher Education Unit (IHEU). The position is designed as a special/equal opportunity measure and plays a pivotal role in providing culturally informed support to First Nations students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Enable the success of undergraduate and postgraduate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at ACU – Provide a range of effective cultural support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students – Provide academic support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students – Provide personal support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students – Operate within Yalbalinga Indigenous Higher Education Unit (IHEU) – Engage with students across multiple ACU campuses REQUIREMENTS – Applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, as this position is an identified role and a special/equal opportunity measure under relevant anti-discrimination legislation – Australian work rights are required to apply for this position – For continuing roles, applicants must hold permanent Australian work rights – Completion of mandatory pre-employment declarations and background checks, including checks related to gender-based violence and foreign interference – A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP), as applicable – Ability to work part time, 28 hours per week, in a continuing role – Capacity to work primarily from the Blacktown campus with multi-campus engagement and some hybrid flexibility WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role directly contributes to improving access, participation, and success outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in higher education.
