OVERVIEW The Student Support Advisor (Identified Role) at the University of Canberra is a full-time position dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across their academic journey. Based within the Ngunnawal Centre, this role focuses on engagement, retention, and student success through culturally safe, proactive support. Two positions are available at UC Level 5, offering a competitive salary plus superannuation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff and community stakeholders. – Represent the Ngunnawal Centre at University and community events, including Open Day, Career Expos and outreach activities. – Support Indigenous student engagement, retention and academic success. – Engage with students through a variety of channels, including face-to-face, phone, email and social media. – Coordinate and promote opportunities such as scholarships, awards and support services. – Contribute to a welcoming, culturally safe and supportive environment for students. REQUIREMENTS – Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity (identified position). – Deep understanding of the issues relating to and affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. – Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. – Consistent, dependable and highly organised approach to work. – Strong commitment to student success and service delivery. – Ability to build meaningful relationships with students and colleagues. – Current ACT Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, or ability to obtain one.
