OVERVIEW The Study Abroad Lead plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping how students engage with global learning opportunities at the University of Auckland. This position focuses on inspiring participation in study abroad and exchange through strong marketing, team leadership, and collaboration across the university. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, the role contributes directly to high-quality student experience and the institution’s approach to student mobility. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Leading and supporting a diverse team delivering study abroad and exchange activity – Activating student-focused marketing plans across digital and on-campus channels – Building international partnerships that support and inspire student mobility – Driving process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality and consistency – Upskilling faculty staff to confidently promote study abroad opportunities – Engaging directly with students to promote global study experiences REQUIREMENTS – Proven experience in marketing, ideally student, audience or engagement focused – At least three years’ experience leading a team with a focus on student mobility and exchange – A minimum of five years’ experience in the tertiary education sector or a large, complex organisation – Demonstrated experience contributing to process improvement or service redesign initiatives – Strong understanding of digital marketing and its role in student engagement – Willingness and ability to undertake international travel as part of the role WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role directly influences how students access and understand opportunities to study abroad as part of their university journey.
