OVERVIEW The Indigenous Student Success Officer at Australian Catholic University (ACU) is a continuing, full-time professional role based at the Canberra campus, with some flexibility for hybrid work. The position plays a pivotal role in enabling the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate and postgraduate students through culturally informed, academic, and personal support. Operating within Dhara Daramoolen Indigenous Higher Education Unit (IHEU), the role contributes directly to ACU’s mission of equity, inclusion, and the advancement of the common good. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Enable the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate and postgraduate students at ACU. – Provide a range of effective cultural support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. – Provide academic support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. – Provide personal support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. – Operate as part of Dhara Daramoolen Indigenous Higher Education Unit (IHEU). – Contribute to a supportive, culturally safe university environment for First Nations students. REQUIREMENTS – Full-time availability in a continuing role based at the Canberra (ACT) campus. – Ability to meet mandatory pre-employment declarations and background checks, including checks related to gender-based violence and foreign interference, in line with ACU compliance requirements. – Hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) as required in the ACT. – Hold Australian work rights. – For a continuing appointment, hold permanent Australian work rights.
