OVERVIEW Anglicare WA is seeking a Student Wellbeing Officer to support students at Williams Primary School and Wickepin Primary School in Western Australia. This part-time position operates across four days per week, with two days at each school, and runs until 29 January 2027. The role focuses on student engagement, wellbeing support, outreach to disengaged students and families, and connection to school and community services. The Student Wellbeing Service works closely with children and young people through school-based activities and wellbeing programs. The position is suited to professionals with experience supporting young people in educational or community settings and who can work effectively with diverse student populations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Engage with students through a wide range of school-based activities – Provide support for students to connect with professional staff within the school – Conduct outreach to disengaged students and their families – Support young people to access and connect with community-based services – Facilitate school wellbeing workshops or programs – Work effectively within a fast-paced and dynamic school environment – Facilitate small groups with children and young people – Work respectfully with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and abilities, including Aboriginal and CaLD young people and students who identify as LGBTQIA+ REQUIREMENTS – Cert IV in Youth Work or another relevant Cert IV qualification – Relevant tertiary qualification permitting registration as a counsellor, teacher, social worker, psychologist, nurse, or midwife – Experience or knowledge of trauma informed practice – Knowledge of de-escalation techniques – Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic school environment – Contemporary knowledge of issues impacting children and young people – Understanding of the education system – Ability to facilitate small groups – Ability to accept, respect, and work with children and young people from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities – Current National Police Clearance – Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check from the Department of Education no older than 12 months – Working With Children Check – Current WA Driver’s Licence WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Student wellbeing roles play an important part in helping children and young people remain connected to school, support services, and their broader communities. By identifying barriers to engagement and providing targeted support, wellbeing professionals contribute to safer and more inclusive learning environments.
