OVERVIEW The Careers Development and Employability Programs Coordinator (VET) is a professional role focused on strengthening career readiness and employment outcomes for vocational education students. Based at Swinburne University of Technology, this position coordinates employability programs, workshops, and events across multiple campuses. The role works with broad direction and requires collaboration with students, educators, and internal stakeholders within the Vocational Education division. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Oversee and coordinate key Vocational Education employability programs – Manage student communication related to career development and employability initiatives – Coordinate workshops and events that support career development and job readiness – Evaluate employability program outcomes – Collaborate with educators’ departments to deliver career development and job readiness support for VET students and teachers – Engage with students and staff across the Vocational Education division – Travel across Hawthorn, Croydon, and Wantirna campuses as required REQUIREMENTS – Proven experience managing and developing institution-wide programs, ideally employability programs within the VET/TAFE sector – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond effectively to unexpected situations – Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders – Sound knowledge of career development theories and frameworks – Experience developing partnerships with schools and academic or teaching staff to deliver career development learning within curriculum programs – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment – Proactive and adaptable approach, with initiative and enthusiasm for new opportunities and challenges – A recognised qualification in Career Development, supported by relevant industry experience – Eligibility for membership of a CICA recognised career professional association – Ability to meet appointment requirements, including passing a Working with Children Check WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role supports vocational education students to build practical career skills and improve their employment outcomes in a changing labour market.
