OVERVIEW The Student Recruitment & Engagement Lead plays a central role in attracting, advising, and supporting future general practitioners into RACGP training pathways across New South Wales. Acting as the first point of contact for medical students and prevocational doctors, this role combines relationship management, outreach, and case management to guide candidates toward suitable GP training options. This is a full-time, nine-month parental leave cover requiring regular regional travel and flexible working hours. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Serve as the first point of contact and brand ambassador for RACGP GP training programs with medical students and prevocational doctors – Case manage prospective GPs, providing tailored guidance toward the most appropriate training pathway – Build and nurture relationships with regional stakeholders, hospitals, universities, and prospective GPs – Develop and deliver regional engagement activities aligned with national recruitment and engagement plans – Organise and support GP training promotional events, webinars, and regional presentations – Maintain regional leads databases, track engagement activity, and provide regular updates and reports REQUIREMENTS – Proven stakeholder relationship management skills – Strong customer-centric mindset – Highly developed communication skills, including exceptional verbal and written abilities – Strong project, event management, and organisational skills – Ability to manage competing demands and work effectively under pressure – Comfort with regular travel within New South Wales – Availability to work outside standard business hours, including weeknights and weekends – Right to work in Australia WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role directly supports the sustainability of Australia’s primary healthcare workforce by guiding future doctors into general practice training. Through early engagement and informed case management, the position helps ensure aspiring GPs are well supported in navigating complex training pathways.
