OVERVIEW The Student Engagement Officer role at Federation University Australia is a full-time, continuing appointment based at the Mt Helen Campus in Ballarat. Positioned within Retention, Innovation and Student Experience, this role focuses on enhancing the student experience by fostering meaningful engagement with university life. The position sits at HEW Level 5 and supports a diverse student community through events, programs, and co-curricular activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Plan and implement a calendar of student events across the academic year – Deliver activities, events, and programs that improve student engagement within university life – Contribute to the promotion of university services – Design and implement a range of development opportunities for students – Provide support and guidance to student clubs and societies REQUIREMENTS – Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients in a customer- or student-centric environment – Understanding of marketing, promotion, and communication related to events and activities – Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and maintain attention to detail – Skills and experience in planning large events and engagement activities – Commitment and ability to work flexible hours throughout the calendar year – Demonstrated skills in developing a range of extra-curricular learning opportunities for students – Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), as required for all university positions delivering education and/or services to children WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Student engagement plays a critical role in student retention, wellbeing, and overall success in higher education.
