OVERVIEW The Student Success Assistant role at Murdoch University is a frontline position focused on supporting students throughout their academic journey, from enrolment to graduation. Working within a collaborative Student Success Team, this role contributes to a positive, inclusive, and supportive university experience for both domestic and international students. It is well suited to individuals who are passionate about student engagement, wellbeing, and practical problem-solving in a higher education environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Providing pastoral care to students experiencing challenges with their studies, with guidance from a Student Success Advisor – Responding to and triaging student enquiries, escalating complex matters when required – Referring students to appropriate on- and off-campus support services – Supporting outreach initiatives for students identified as at-risk or impacted by progression requirements REQUIREMENTS – At least 6 months of experience in a customer service role, with a genuine passion for helping others – Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently connect with people – Currently completing (or having completed) an undergraduate degree, with at least first year completed at Murdoch University, or a full degree from another recognised institution – Comfort using a range of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems – A proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service by understanding customer needs and going the extra mile to meet them – A valid Working With Children Check, or the ability to register for one in line with University procedures – Current and valid work rights in Australia, noting that visa sponsorship is not available for this position WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Student success roles play a critical part in higher education by ensuring students feel supported, informed, and connected throughout their studies.
