OVERVIEW The Student Affairs and Internship Manager at IES Abroad Sydney plays a central role in shaping the day-to-day student experience while ensuring programs run smoothly and safely. This hands-on position combines student wellbeing support, internship coordination, and operational management within an international education environment. The role suits a highly organised, culturally aware professional who enjoys balancing direct student support with behind-the-scenes administration and leadership. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Support student wellbeing and safety throughout their program – Respond to student issues with calm judgement and appropriate escalation – Participate in after-hours on-call support on a rotating basis – Ensure compliance with safety protocols and support risk management for activities – Support the management and delivery of all student programs – Build and maintain relationships with internship hosts and community partners – Oversee student internship experiences, including matching, preparation, and support – Contribute to improving program quality and student outcomes – Contribute to orientations, excursions, and co-curricular activities – Support a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally engaging student community – Assist with housing coordination and provider liaison when required – Participate in occasional evening and weekend activities and field trips – Integrate sustainability and social impact into programming – Maintain accurate student records and compliance documentation – Support budgeting, expense tracking, and basic financial administration – Oversee logistics for programs, events, and travel – Contribute to improving systems and processes – Support Centre operations and provide continuity when the Centre Director is unavailable REQUIREMENTS – Experience in student affairs, international education, higher education, or a related field – Strong understanding of the Australian university sector – Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills – Confidence supporting students in challenging situations – Strong organisational skills and attention to detail – Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment – Proactive, self-directed working style with good judgement – Commitment to education, cultural exchange, and social impact – Bachelor’s degree – First Aid certificate – Working With Children Check – Full working rights in Australia WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role directly influences student wellbeing, learning, and personal growth during an important international experience.
