OVERVIEW The Inclusion Support Advisor role at Southern Cross University sits within the Study Well team and focuses on enabling equitable access to learning for students with disability, long-term illness, or mental health conditions. This position works closely with students and university staff to identify learning needs, implement reasonable adjustments, and promote inclusive education practices across the institution. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Assessing student needs and developing tailored learning access plans and reasonable adjustments – Providing expert advice on disability inclusion, assistive technology, and inclusive education practices – Partnering with academic and professional staff to facilitate equitable access to learning and student success – Working collaboratively with students to support their engagement and progression in higher education REQUIREMENTS – A bachelor’s degree or higher – Experience in allied health, special education, social welfare, mental health, occupational therapy, or a related field – Proven experience in disability services – Familiarity with the challenges and barriers faced by students with disability in accessing and succeeding in higher education – Strong understanding of legislation, policies, and guidelines related to disability services and inclusion in education – Strong problem-solving and judgement skills – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage students, staff, and stakeholders effectively WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Inclusive education plays a critical role in ensuring that higher education is accessible to all learners, regardless of disability or health conditions. By partnering with staff across the university, the Inclusion Support Advisor helps embed inclusive practices that benefit the broader learning community.
