OVERVIEW The Director, Domestic Student Recruitment is a senior leadership role with end-to-end accountability for domestic student recruitment and future student engagement at Western Sydney University. Based across the Richmond and Parramatta South campuses with flexible working arrangements, the role leads strategy, delivery and performance across all domestic student cohorts. The position operates in a highly competitive and evolving higher education environment, with a strong emphasis on data-led, student-centred recruitment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead Western Sydney University’s domestic student recruitment strategy across all cohorts to achieve enrolment targets – Develop and deliver an integrated, insight-led recruitment and acquisition strategy – Drive targeted outreach, engagement and conversion activity informed by data and market intelligence – Work closely with Marketing, Data & Insights, Faculties and student-facing services – Lead large-scale engagement and outreach programs, including school, community, events and pathway initiatives – Use performance data to evaluate effectiveness, optimise activity and identify new growth opportunities – Provide strong, visible leadership to a multidisciplinary recruitment team – Build capability, foster collaboration and sustain a high-performance culture – Partner with Indigenous leadership to deliver culturally informed recruitment and conversion programs – Oversee outreach-funded and equity initiatives that build aspiration and widen participation – Ensure outreach programs meet compliance, reporting and impact requirements REQUIREMENTS – A relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification – Extensive experience in recruitment, acquisition and engagement – Demonstrated success delivering strategic recruitment outcomes in higher education or comparable sectors – Proven ability to engage diverse communities, including Indigenous and multicultural audiences – Strong analytical capability with experience evaluating and optimising large-scale programs – Senior leadership experience with the ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams – A proactive, outcome-focused leadership approach with sound judgement, energy and initiative WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Domestic student recruitment is critical to the sustainability, diversity and impact of Australian universities.
