OVERVIEW The Quality Officer role at the University of Melbourne is a full-time, fixed-term position focused on strengthening the quality and consistency of student support services. Based within Student Equity and Disability Services (SEDS), the role plays a central part in ensuring equitable, student-centred practices across the University. This position suits professionals with experience in quality assurance, continuous improvement, and working within complex service environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Coordinate the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the SEDS Quality Framework, ensuring consistency across service areas. – Establish and manage quality audit schedules, including preparation, data collection, record checks, and documentation of findings for review. – Develop, update, and organise standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, guides, and supporting documentation. – Work with team leads to embed Academic Adjustment Plan (AAP) quality assurance, improving accuracy, compliance, and consistency of student adjustments. – Contribute to service improvement projects by documenting issues, mapping processes, and co-designing practical quality solutions with teams. REQUIREMENTS – A relevant qualification in quality, business, education, health, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. – Experience supporting quality frameworks, assurance systems, or continuous improvement within complex service environments. – Demonstrated capability in coordinating quality audits, preparing documentation, reviewing records, and supporting clear and concise reporting. – Ability to create accurate process maps, SOPs, guides, and templates that support consistent, student-focused practice. – Understanding of case management or Academic Adjustment Plan processes and the ability to apply this knowledge to support compliance and consistency. – Experience using data to identify trends and issues and contribute to evidence-based recommendations and service improvements.
