OVERVIEW This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to student engagement and wellbeing by strengthening attendance processes within a large and diverse P–12 school community. As Attendance Officer at Woodcrest State College, you will support accurate attendance monitoring and communication across the expanding WesTEC campus. The position is temporary and part-time, providing meaningful impact within a defined timeframe. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Generate daily reports on student absenteeism. – Send SMS messages to parents and carers regarding student attendance. – Advise and follow up with teachers about attendance matters. – Document attendance information using Excel spreadsheets and the OneSchool system. – Produce a Daily Attendance Report each morning and distribute it to teaching staff and deputy principals. – Advise teachers of amendments to attendance records following late notifications. – Collect and coordinate data to determine and document reasons for student absences, particularly for chronically absent students. – Monitor student programs related to attendance and provide relevant information to teachers and school leaders. – Liaise with the Student Support Officer, Head of Special Education Program, and Guidance Officer to address barriers to student engagement. – Maintain a database of independent students, students in kinship or guardian care, students subject to legal orders, and other factors impacting attendance. – Undertake general office and administrative duties as required. REQUIREMENTS – Strong organisation and administration skills. – Excellent communication skills. – Ability to build positive professional relationships across multiple school communities. – Professional approach to handling sensitive student and family information. – Eligibility to apply as a current Queensland Government employee. – Ability to prepare and submit a brief resume with two referees. – Ability to provide a two-page written statement responding to the role description.
