OVERVIEW La Trobe University is seeking a Senior Coordinator International Student Wellbeing Connect to join its Wellbeing Services team at the Bundoora campus in Melbourne. This full-time continuing role focuses on delivering high-quality wellbeing and complex case management support for international students, while also supporting domestic students as required. The position involves crisis intervention, counselling support, care coordination, and the development of culturally appropriate prevention and health promotion initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide high-quality complex case management services to students – Deliver secondary consultation and advice related to student wellbeing – Provide wellbeing support, supportive counselling, and advocacy – Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessment activities – Coordinate care and referrals to appropriate services and support options – Evaluate options and services to meet comprehensive psychosocial and wellbeing needs – Contribute to prevention and health promotion initiatives – Develop and deliver proactive culturally appropriate programs for international students – Support both international and domestic students as required – Work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across the university environment REQUIREMENTS – Qualifications in Social Work or Psychology – Significant post-qualification experience in case management, counselling, and wellbeing support – Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency – Demonstrated experience managing complex psychosocial issues – Experience in behavioural management, crisis intervention, and risk assessment – Ability to manage a demanding caseload – Highly developed written and verbal communication skills – Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders – Demonstrated success working with diverse client groups – Ability to engage and build rapport with complex clients – Full working rights in Australia – Ability to obtain and hold a valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check prior to commencement – Submission of a cover letter, resume, and a separate document addressing the essential criteria in the position description WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International student wellbeing is an important part of the higher education experience, particularly for students navigating cultural adjustment, academic pressure, and personal challenges while studying abroad.
