OVERVIEW The Senior Student Adviser role at Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a part-time, ongoing position within the Student Life Directorate, based across the Joondalup and City campuses in Perth, Western Australia. This role supports ECU’s commitment to student success, wellbeing, and experience by delivering high-quality, person-centred advice and support to current students. The position sits within a collaborative, values-driven university environment focused on continuous improvement and meaningful impact. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide a broad range of customer-focused student advice to all ECU students – Support school support operations through effective student advisory services – Act as an escalation point for Student Advisers handling complex student enquiries – Apply broad knowledge of student administrative processes, courses, and support services – Lead and complete project work to support Student Hub Coordinators – Act as a proxy for Student Hub Coordinators in meetings when required – Contribute to a person-centred, collaborative approach to student engagement REQUIREMENTS – Excellent customer service skills with the ability to understand student needs, provide support, and build positive relationships – Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others, coordinate activities, support team members, and share knowledge through training and guidance – Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in managing complex student enquiries – Knowledge of student administration processes, support services, and systems – Ability to communicate information clearly to different audiences – Commitment to continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities and improving processes – Alignment with ECU values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence, and Courage – Relevant working rights to fill the position in Australia WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Senior Student Advisers play a critical role in ensuring students can navigate university systems, access appropriate support, and progress successfully through their studies.
