Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks a Program Director for Study Abroad Programs. The role manages overseas study and exchange programs, including program development, budgeting, faculty recruitment and selection, promotion, student selection and orientation, financial aid coordination, re-entry programming, evaluation, and logistics such as housing, registration, and insurance. The director leads study abroad staff and affiliated faculty, manages exchange partnerships, coordinates international scholarship programs such as Fulbright and Gilman, serves as the university’s international representative, promotes health and safety practices for study abroad participants, and supervises advising related to study, work, and travel abroad opportunities. Required qualifications include a master’s degree in a related field and two years of experience managing study abroad programs. Preferred qualification is one semester of studying, working, or living outside the United States. Illinois residency must be established within 180 days of the start date if hired from out of state.
